Round 2 of the Larford Lakes Winter League took place on Saturday 28th January.
After making a great start in round 1, both team Garbolino and Match Fishing Scene continued their pursuit of an automatic "Match This" team championship place with another fine display of team angling.

Now that we are firmly in the midst of winter, Larford Lakes has decided to turn their attention to the 2012 Summer opens, which this year, begin on Saturday 7th July.
The summer opens always prove very popular at Larford with the quality of fishing being second to none and weights regularly exceeding 100lbs.

Larford Lakes will once again be hosting a series of mid week open matches that will run every Thursday starting from 5th April up to and including 25th October.
Matches will fish 1pm - 6pm (draw at 11:30).
Each match can be entered for £12 all in. 
Matches will be fished on either the Match Lake or Specimen Lake, depending on the number of anglers.

The initial response for 2012 Maver Mega "Match This" tickets has been very encouraging with tickets selling immediately after going on sale via the Official Maver "Match This" website. This year's campaign begins on Saturday 7th April at Woodlands View, Droitwich and concludes with the 2012 "Match This" final at Maver Larford Lakes on Saturday 1st September. Tickets are available on-line now via the Official  Maver Match This website. Alternatively, you can book over the phone on 01527 406 300.

Phil Briscoe, Maver (UK) Managing Director, will, again, guarantee the winner of this year's event a minimum of £50,000. In addition to this however, Phil has announced that, providing ticket sales for this year's event allow, the competition will also aim to pay out second and third placed anglers meaning the competition for this year will no longer be a winner takes all event. It is our intention to pay 2nd place £5,000 and 3rd place £3,000 on the day (subject to change).

The opening round of the Larford Lakes Winter League series got underway on Saturday 14th January. Eight teams of four braved the arctic conditions in a bid to top the league early on and begin their pursuit of a top place finish to qualify for the "Match This" Team Championships taking place on Sunday 2nd September.

Just a reminder that the deadline for team entries to enter the 2012 Larford Lakes Winter League is rapidly approaching. Please note the decision has been made to extend the deadline until Monday 9th January.

The price applies to all anglers (no further concession given for children or OAPs) and will also apply to match bookings.

The competition will also pay out (again subject to the event being fully supported) the runner's-up team and, subject to numbers, third place also.
As an added incentive, the event will now see the top four placed teams automatically qualify for day two of the 2012 Maver Mega "Match This" weekend extravaganza, and take part in the team event on Sunday 2nd September competing for a winning team prize of £3,000 and impressive team trophy! The competition will also pay out an additional £2,000 to second place and £1,000 to third placed teams respectively. Entry fee on the day will be £120 per team.
The event will be sponsored by the Angling Times, Daily Mirror and possibly televised by Sky Sports (and other TV channels) given the competitions tie-in with the 2012 Mega "Match This" final. Watch this space for more details.

Maver Larford Lakes has scooped the "Best Pole Fishing Venue In The Country" as voted for by Pole Fishing magazine.
The article states "There isn't a venue in the country quite like Larford and that is why it's so popular with pole anglers. The prolific Match Lake is brimming with carp and F1s and you can often see them swirling shallow or crawling up the margins for feed. The smaller Arena Pool is equally alive, especially if you can get them going down the edges. It is arguably the Speci Lake that is the jewel in the crown, however, and the bream and skimmer sport is just as good as the carp fishing - and where else can you witness carp to 20lb coming out on the pole on an almost weekly basis?".

The beginning of the New Year will mark the introduction of the latest editions to the Commercial Sense DVD series.
Volumes 6 & 7 focus on the baits, tackle and tactics used to keep fish coming to the net throughout the colder months and includes methods such as conventional waggler, feeder, straight bomb and pole fishing.

Maver Larford Lakes has been shortlisted for the 2011 Stillwater Of The Year 2011 award by the Angling Times.
The award, which is only presented to the most polished fisheries in the country, has been given to Maver Larford Lakes in years gone by, and is in a strong position to receive the award again this year given the prestigious "Match This" final held on Saturday 20th August where winner, Andy Power, received the richest ever prize given to an angler in the histroy of the sport.

The beginning of a new year is nearly upon, and so too is next year's Mega "Match This" event.

Andy Kinder is being hailed as the undisputed "King of Larford" after a spate of top performances which have seen the amiable Yorkshireman win almost every high-profile event held at Larford this year.
Andy has triumphed in the recent Maver Pairs Final, the five-day summer festival as well as winning the second qualifier event as part of the benchmark Maver "Match This" £50,000 event, plus victories in numerous open matches.
Andy also took the runner's-up spot in the Maver Classic during a fantastic run of form that has seen him put together catches in excess of 240lbs.
