LARFORD LAKES STATEMENT 19th JULY 2010

After careful management, all the lakes at Larford are now open again.

There has been a considerable amount of idle gossip and rumour which has in turn fuelled a rumour that Larford Lakes has had a total wipe-out of its fish stocks and this is simply not the case. It appears that whatever we do to manage and protect the welfare of the fish in the pools at the complex, anglers seem to enjoy spreading unfounded rumours and lies.

We feel very disappointed and extremely angry that many regular anglers to Larford Lakes have speculated in this way. You know who you are and you are no longer welcome at our Fishery. There are certain clubs and match anglers that will never enjoy our complex again. Your loss!

Just to put the record straight we did suffer an oxygen problem at Larford Lakes along with countless other fisheries throughout the UK. We worked extremely hard to reinstate the oxygen to a satisfactory level and this has now been achieved.

To protect our fish stocks we decided to close the Match and Arena lakes for a short period as fish were clearly distressed. Also as a precautionary measure the decision was taken to close the Specimen Lake for one week only. The complex is now fully re-opened and weights over the weekends matches were very respectable indeed.

At Maver Larford Lakes we manage our complex professionally. The unfounded rumours have affected our fishery staff deeply and the owner is now taking a view as to carefully selecting future bookings from angling clubs and the like.

By giving the lakes a well deserved rest, the management were presented with the time to inspect all of the surrounding ground to the site. We removed a considerable amount of litter carefully hidden on a number of the pegs. Please note that we will take extreme action to remove any further offenders for life from the fishery who idly places litter in this way, there is no excuse.

Having suffered a barrage of rumour and lies created by the "Ena Sharples" and angling forums of the fishing circles, the record needs to be set straight. To the offenders (and you know who you are) who enjoy scandal mongering, we suggest you get a life and leave the running of the fisheries within the UK to the fishery owners to manage their business correctly and in a competent way. For further comment from Phil Briscoe, take a look at the recent article published by the Angling Times

Larford Lakes has lost no more fish than previous years and all fisheries loose fish from time to time. Had the complex been affected by the KHV or SVC virus, then the correct measures would have been taken and it would have been reported through the correct channels, not through gossip and angling forums.

Neither of these viruses is present at Larford Lakes but the mindless anglers that choose not to follow certain rules could well put the Lakes at risk in the future if they continue to disregard the net dips provided.

To clarify the situation, Larford Lakes is very much open for business as usual. Should you have any queries may we respectfully suggest you contact the Fishery direct on 01299 829373.

Situated in the heart of Worcestershire countryside, comprising of three lakes; the Specimen, the Match and the Arena, plus some of the best barbel and chub fishing on the River Severn. Larford fishery offers 250 prime lake pegs and 80 river pegs. It is our belief that one of the main ingredients which sets the fishery apart from most 'commercial' fisheries is the surrounding environment. Larford offers that missing ingredient which standard 'holes in the ground' seem to ignore.

Larford has become a firm favourite with pleasure anglers because there are huge stocks of smaller carp, roach and skimmers, meaning bites will keep coming all day long. The fact that every peg is capable of winning the fiercely contested matches means it's popularity with match anglers is first class as the massive attendances at the weekend open matches prove.

100lb plus weights of fish are commonplace during every month of the year at Larford, such is the quality of sport available so whether it's a case of putting a smile on your face for a few hours, practicing for the next big match or trying to capture your first double figure carp - Larford Lakes is the place to go.

Competition Bookings

We reserve the right to increase day ticket and club booking prices at any time. In the event of an increase, clubs that have paid a deposit in advance of their forward bookings may be asked for additional funds over and above the balance outstanding when paying the final payment.
The increase (if any) will be inline with the day ticket prices as per the date of the competition and only applicable should prices have risen over and above the rate quoted at the time of the original booking.
Payments for matches that are paid in full at the time of booking will not incur any further increases.
Refunds securing pegs will only be given should the fishery be given good reason in relation to the cancellation. Refunds will be given at the fishery's discretion and their decision will be final.
