This weeks letters published in the Angling Times offer support and praise for Maver’s Phil Briscoe and the Larford Lake Complex. After the recent slur campaign instigated by a select few, both Maver and fishery staff feel angered and let down by the small mindedness that still appears to be present within the match fishing fraternity. However, the letters below are proof that some anglers indeed know fact from fiction!

Phil Briscoe has stated recently he has "lost faith in modern anglers" after the circulation of slanderous rumors concerning fish welfare at Larford Lakes. Having already set the record straight in a statement released on 19th July, Phil recently also expressed his general disappointment regarding the whole episode to Ben Miles of the Angling Times.

The Maver Classic will again be staged at the Larford Lakes Complex on the bank holiday weekend of Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May 2009.
In total there are 62 qualifiers this year, running from Saturday 11th October 2008 to Saturday 2nd May 2009, with one angler from every 10 going through to the prestigious final in May 2009.
