Please Note:
As from January 1st 2009, the use of a catapult for feeding groundbait is no longer allowed on any of the 3 lakes.
Catapults may be used for loose feeding of maggots and casters, pellets, corn, etc.
The use of a big waggler is still allowed but feeding of ground bait must be by hand only.
PVA pellet tea bags are also prohibited.

The same field as the Maver / AT pairs plus some invitations participated in the 57 pairs (114 anglers) pole pairs.
Conditions were difficult with an even stronger SW wind lashing both the Speci and Match lakes. The all pole only event made long pole fishing difficult with most anglers opting for short lines with meat and paste.
Winners on the day were Luke Sears and Steve Clark with a perfect 2 point score and the title of British Pole Pair Champions 2009. Luke drew peg 75 on the Match burr bank landing F1 carp and larger carp from the margins for a total weight of 46.460kgs (103lbs) whilst his partner Steve Clark drew unfancied peg 35 on the Speci burr bank to land big carp and bream for a total 63.640kgs (141.5lbs). Both anglers won the sections but Steve won his section with over 11kgs to spare. A brilliant pole fishing performance from both anglers.
2nd placed pair was the dangerous and talented Ben Leach and Will Raison. They secured a 3 point total and a total weight of 146.240kgs (325lbs). Ben drew fancied peg 19 on the Arena. Fishing short, Ben weighed a total of 76.520kgs (170lbs). His partner, Will Raison drew peg 14 on the Speci burr to land 69.720kgs (155lbs) of large carp and bream for a section and overall lake win.
3rd placed Steve Openshaw and Jamie Hughes secured 4 points with a total weight of 93.320kgs (207lbs). Steve drew peg 13 on the shallow bank of the Match lake. Fishing shallow on the pellet and taking fish down the edges, Steve weighed a total of 41.640kgs (92.5lbs) for a second placing in his section. His partner Jamie Hughes drew peg 57 on the chalet bank of the Speci landing carp on meat for a total weight of 51.680kgs (115lbs) and a second in the section placing.
