Please Note:
As from January 1st 2009, the use of a catapult for feeding groundbait is no longer allowed on any of the 3 lakes.

The use of a big waggler is still allowed but feeding of ground bait must be by hand only.
PVA pellet tea bags are also prohibited.

Thirty six anglers turned out for this latest summer open on the Match lake. Conditions on the day were absolutely hurrendous with prolonged periods of heavy rain and strong gusts of wind making conditions very uncomfortable and bait presentation difficult. Despite this, the Match lake fished well with over 100lbs needed to frame.
Des Shipp (Preston Innovations) showed his International class as he pulled away from the field to win with 136-08-00 from what he considered to be a "no hope" peg on peg 36 of the grass bank! Fishing pellet hard on the bottom, Des took F1's and carp to 7lbs.
Second on the day was Cornwall visitor Stu Lister (Spro). Stu drew peg 78 and fished pole and pellet to finish with 112-04-00 of carp of a similar stamp.
Stu Ballard (Maver Midlands) finished in third place with 110-09-00 with recent Maver 'Match This' qualifier winner Andy Leathers finishing fourth with 102-13-00.
