The first round of the Maver Larford Winter League teams match started on Saturday 14th January.

Eight teams of four took part with sixteen anglers on the Match Lake and sixteen on the Specimen lake.

Overall winner on the day was Jon Arthur, who drew peg 20 on the Match Lake landing F1s and carp for a total weight of 80-09-00. Jon caught on pole and pellet with a few fish to the waggler later in the match.

Jon was overall winner and picked up maximum points in his section to help his team (Maver Midlands Black) to a third place finish overall after rd1 of the series.

Second on the day was Maver's Jamie Hughes, who drew peg 14 to land F1 carp long on 14m and 16m pole for a total weight of 78-04-00.

Third on the day was Grant Albutt (Garbolino) with 66-05-00 of F1 carp from peg 54 on the match burr.

Match Lake Result:

The Speci Lake also produced some interesting results with lots of bream making up the weights.

Winner on the day was Neil McKinnon, who was part of the Garbolino team on the day. He drew peg 16 on the Speci burr to land four early carp to the method feeder. He later added a fine bag of bream to pole and pellet to weigh 66-05-00 to obtain a section first.

Second on the day was Team Bait-Tech's Ian Didcote. Drawing peg 22 on the burr, Ian landed carp to the method feeder plus bream on the pole for 53-08-00.

Third on the Speci was Joe Lowe (Maver Tipton), who drew peg 8 on the burr. A few skimmers to open end feeder started his match. Later, switching to 13m on pole and caster, Joe found 40lb of skimmers.
